Our destination: the awe-inspiring Karnak Temples, one of the world's largest temple complexes. As you explore, you'll encounter the Sacred Lake and the colossal Scarab Statue. The Karnak Temples were erected in honor of the deity Amon and his consort, Mut. Our adventure continues with a visit to Luxor Temple, a site steeped in three civilizations: Pharaonic, Coptic, and Islamic. Continue to Luxor Temple, an ancient temple in the center of Luxor laid parallel to the Nile. Hear how it was built in around 1,400 BC, and added to by Tutankhamun, Ramses II and even Alexander the Great.

On the second day, our guide will whisk you away from your hotel or Nile Cruise in a comfortable A/C vehicle to explore the West Bank.

Our first stop is the renowned Valley of the Kings, home to an impressive 63 tombs. These royal resting places are adorned with Egyptian mythology, reflecting the beliefs of their era. Among the illustrious pharaohs interred here, King Tutankhamun stands out as the most famous. Although our guides cannot enter the tombs, they will provide detailed explanations before you venture inside.

Next, we'll visit the magnificent Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, also known as Deir el Bahari. Its grand architecture and historical significance make it a must-see.

Our final destination is the Colossi of Memnon, twin statues hewn from quartzite sandstone. These colossal guardians were believed to protect the entrance to Amenhotep's Memorial Temple. Don't forget your camera—the Colossi offer fantastic photo opportunities.

As the sun sets on this remarkable tour, we'll transfer you back to your comfortable accommodations aboard your Hotel or Nile Cruise.

First day: Luxor East bank Tour

Upon landing in Luxor, you will meet your Egyptologist guide and then  drive to the Temples of Karnak on the Nile’s East Bank. As you travel, hear how Luxor stands on the 4,000-year-old site of Thebes, Egypt’s ancient royal capital, and how Karnak is the largest of its temple complexes. Discover how this vast collection of buildings was developed by more than 30 pharaohs, including Amenhotep IV and Ramses II.

On arrival, walk along the Avenue of the Sphinxes to the gateway, and then explore inside with your Egyptologist guide. Hear how the huge pylons at the entrance were constructed, and marvel at the courtyards and sanctuaries beyond. The deeper you go into the complex, the further back you step, with the oldest ruins dating back more than 3,000 years. Gaze in awe at the showpiece, Hypostyle Hall, crowded with 134 massive columns that tower above you like an ancient forest. Crane your neck upwards and learn about the ingenious methods used to raise them by the long-ago Egyptians. See the sacred lake where pharaonic offerings were purified, and then enjoy free time to stroll around the site at leisure. Continue to Luxor Temple, an ancient temple in the center of Luxor laid parallel to the Nile. Hear how it was built in around 1,400 BC, and added to by Tutankhamun, Ramses II and even Alexander the Great. Admire the two colossal statues of Ramses at the entrance, and the granite gateway obelisk, whose original counterpart now stands in Paris’ Place de la Concorde. Then, head inside to gawk at the richly carved inner sanctuaries, papyrus columns, and courts. Peep inside the atmospheric anterooms, including the chapel dedicated to Alexander the Great, who rebuilt the room in his name.  When the time comes, finish your tour with a drop-off at the West Bank hotel.
 

2nd day: Luxor West Bank Tour


Now, you will uncover the mysteries behind Luxor West Bank.  You will explore the history and culture of ancient Egypt with your knowledgeable guide. Your first stop of the day will be the Valley of Kings. It is a rock-cut tomb that was excavated to be the burial tombs for the new kingdom pharaohs and privileged nobles. It contains 63 tombs and chambers decorated with colorful scenes of ancient Egyptian mythologies, beliefs, and funerary rituals.

Afterward, head to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the only woman who ruled Egypt from pre dynastic history until today. The Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut was dedicated to sun god worship and was the only three-level temple in the ancient world. With its connecting ramps, Hatshepsut temple was a turning point in ancient Egyptian architecture. You will enjoy the wonderful reliefs illustrating the earliest trade agreement between 2 countries in ancient history .

Your final stop will be at the Colossi of Memnon. The Colossi is a pair of massive statues of Pharaoh Amenhotep III in a seated position. They were built to guard the entrance of Amenhotep’s memorial temple.  You will have free time to snap photos of your favorites. Afterwards, drive back to your hotel in Luxor.
