Welcome to Aswan and the start of a wonderful Nile cruise holiday. Upon arrival in Aswan, you will be met and greeted by our English-speaking representative, who will transfer you by private A-C van to your fabulous Nile cruise ship. Check in before 12:00 p.m. At the beginning, you will have your lunch meal on board. After lunch, we enjoy a short boat trip to Agilika Island for the Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis. The temple dates from the 4th century BC, but the Ptolemies and the Romans up to the 3rd century AD built most of the existing structures. We consider it the best of the Aswan tours. In danger of being completely submerged by the rising water of Lake Nasser, in 1972 UNESCO stepped in, and an 8-year rescue effort was undertaken to relocate the entire temple 20 meters higher on nearby Agilika Island. Then we drive to Aswan High Dam.
Also today, we enjoy watching Aswan's most famous industry, the essence and oils workshop, to learn more about aromatherapy treatments in ancient Egypt. As the sun sets, choose to relax on your cruise or to enjoy our authentic optional Nile River trip to the Nubian Village.
